The Deep Heart

The Body as Vibration and Space

Mind dissolves into heart
Heart dissolves into space

Body becomes a shimmering field
pulsating between emptiness and fullness

Be open to the possibility that your body is not what you think it is

One of the easiest ways to sense the emotional and energetic impact on the heart area is to notice what we feel when we fall in love or we lose someone we love or painful breakup

Heart breaks painful

Songs all about love found and love lost

Approach your body as a  vibration filled with space

Exercise 1

Sense our body like a musical instrument. As the interior of the body opens up and flowers a secret garden unfolds

Inquire Into
what is it I am sensing
what am I actually experiencing right now

Take a few deep breaths slow down
and sense into the interior of your body right now

Don’t approach your body as a distant observer, enter into it, breath into it, sense into it, feel it from the inside, inhabit it

When we can sense a continuous space in and around our body we no longer feel so trapped

Some areas will feel free and more open other will feel dense and closed

It is common to feel areas which are numb and frozen and this is true of the heart area

When it is too painful to stay open we find ways to shutdown

We try and remain safe and avoid difficult feelings such as shame, terror, grief, rage, vulnerability or bitter disappointment – we may even need to dissociate and ease our body for a while

This tendency to contract becomes habitual we armour ourselves on the physical level with chronic muscular tension

On the emotional level by supposing our feeling on the energetic level by numbing and walling off

We freeze and harden and then subconsciously identity with this condition

We feel and think this is who we really are. We take a self constructed prison as our self.

Discovering a felt sense of space is a powerful medicine for this delusional identification

When we can sense the continuous space in and around our body we no longer feel so trapped

We are tapping into an inherent sense of spaciousness that is our birth right

Importantly we are not creating space we are acknowledging spacious awareness which is already here

Exercise 2

With both practices notice the transition from a meditative to a more ordinary state before you get up

As you observe this shift you support the integrative process of feeling more vibrant and spacious in your daily life

Try a 2 week experiment with each of these two practices in order to assess their impact

Learning to sense the spacious and vibrant nature of the body makes us more available to recognise our true nature as infinite loving awareness it also offers an extremely valuable resource to deal with our more challenging experiences.
